I live in rural Northern California. I have seem 20+ turkeys in my yard at once. This is the time of the year when the babies show up. The following image is of one of the proud fathers, taken in March. There are stories about local turkeys attacking pedestrians, and there was a real story about a USPS worker who got tired of being attacked and killed one with his bare hands. This is not my experience. "My" turkeys are pretty docile and move out of the way if you walk toward them, even the big males.

Thanks and thanks to all who liked the pictures. Now if I could only get those woodpeckers to stay still for more than 5 seconds while I go for my camera.

I wish it were November now. We're in triple digit heat out here. Anyway, I won't frighten him by giving it away.
