I often have this issue when reviewing the captured pict's.
When it's bright /sunny outside, I take a "camo net" with me and, when needed, I wrap it quickly in a way to get caméra's screen + my head in dark shade.
OK, sometimes it is a bit "warm" below the net but it never takes long time till I come to more fresh air.

The camo net is creative and can be quite useful. I can see this being a necessary piece of equipment when photographing birds. But I have a little metal flip down screen blocker magnetically attached to my camera. I was thinking of buying a Hoodman but it seemed too bulky to fit in my camera bag.

When you review images on a small screen, you miss important images you should be paying attention to and busy capturing. Other than the histogram, there's nothing important to see on the small screen.

I miss the times I had with my film cameras. There was no such thing as “chimping”

I find myself looking at the back of my film camera all the time, shaking my head at the silly habit digital has developed.

We all develop silly habits. The chimpanzees are laughing their tails off at us silly creatures.

Cheap and dirty and it works! Buy or make a FOCUSING CLOTH. I have one that is slightly weighted around the edges so it kida hugs you arod the shoulder and is not disturbed by the wind. You can easily make one for black OPAGUE cloth.

If that is too claustrophobic for you, you can make a small hood out of foam-cor or Coroplast board. I have used a leftover collapsible hood from a Mamiyaflex TLR- it folds flat and has a built-in loupe.
