What's with this " black mamba " stuff.
I probably should have addressed this in that other sub-forum, but I've been around long enough that this spot is home to me and this is where I'm going to put it.
Back in 1964, I got into drag racing at a fairly serious level. Strictly as an amateur, not at the pro structure of the sport. I ran solely in sanctioned events, at sanctioned tracks, governed by the regulations that existed at that time. I participated at tracks ranging from mid Florida into south Georgia. I ran a 1964 GTO in the stock class.
I had two good friends that constituted " my team ". They were the wrenches and counselors that kept me on the straight and narrow path.. Once, at a drivers meeting, one of my buddies overheard one of our top competitors tell another top competitor to watch out for me....that I was more dangerous than a black mamba. We couldn't quit cackling over that. I had some graphics done up and put on the car with that name.
In subsequent years, I've used that handle on every occasion on forums and such on the internet that I participate in. I even use it on a small business I started.
I'm obviously not dangerous. I do feel good about the folks on this forum.
The photo is my wife and I getting ready to gobble up some great wings at a neat place in Blowing Rock, NC.
Neat story about the heritage of your nickname. Photo looks to be a typical American couple. Nothing snakeish about either of you.
It is clear that you married above yourself, Tom. (LOL)
Great story Black Mamba. You do not look dangerous, but I will stay away from the track😊.

Don't worry about that, Mike I hear it enough that I believe it myself.
I did wonder where “black mamba” came from.

Cool! Wow, I was only 10 in 1964! Any Pictures of your "Black Mamba" 1964 GTO? I'm a NHRA fan. Watch racing on TV all the time, been to the track in Pomona three times. See photo of my wife with professional Funny Car driver Ron Capps in 2014.

The truth is, when running in a tightly controlled class against equipment very competitive to yours, the driver with the quickest reflexes usually prevails. I happen to have been blessed with extraordinarily quick reflexes, but equally important was the fact that I very seldom red-lighted.

I hope folks don't mind me posting this background info. Members would ask about how that name came into play so I thought I'd just put it out there for anyone that was curious. I admit that it's a rather unusual nickname.

Yea, I've got tons of pictures of Black Mamba. However, as you might surmise, they are on film or slides. Relative to slides, I've never had any of them scanned to digital.
Cool moniker acquisition!

Now I know what your wife and you look like Tom!
Brian, I can relate to folks better if I have some sense of what they look like. I think that's just human nature. Do you feel that way as well ?
