This unusual building was constructed in the late 80's at a total cost of $2.5 million dollars. It is 300 feet long, constructed of wood, steel and copper. It was originally really disliked by residents but is now accepted. Guilford CT is an idyllic New England town filled with historic homes. This build certainly doesn't fit in with the rest of the town.

So . . . what exactly is it? A home? How did it pass zoning? I would not be too happy if it were built in my neighborhood; but it's not, to my relief.

It was certainly not well received initially. In fact there was supposedly a threat on the architects life. In the end it was passed by a 5-2 vote and is now well liked by residents.

Looks like it was inspired by the 1978 Battlestar Galactica.
