Hey Hoggers. I have an issue here that is puzzling to me. When I decided to see how much I could push this horribly underexposed image I noticed that the cropping grid shows as I opened up the shadows, an more so as I increased exposure. I have attached the original and the problem image. Wondering if anyone has an idea as to what I'm doing wrong. I'm using LRC, latest version on iMac running 13.4.1 macOS. Shot from Canon EOS R. Thanks for any constructive help.

I'm sorry if I'm way off base, but I don't see a cropping grid. To mean it looks like some sort of wiring in the background. Sorry, if I'm just not picking up what you are referring to.

It looks like wiring screen, however, I have no wire screening anywhere in my yard. I was shooting towards a corn field. I have no clue what it is. Thanks for looking!

Here is another taken with the same set up, no grid showing.

I don't know what you have here either, but every Adobe app I have ever seen uses standard grid lines in its crop tool, and this looks like a picture of 1/4 in. fencing fabric. Also, it's behind parts of the image and in front of other parts. No grid line I have ever seen does that. Good luck solving this one.

Thanks. LrC does use that grid while using the level/rotation function, but have no idea why it shows up here.

Aha! I went to the ACR filter and rotated an image and it does indeed show a grid like this one, but the lines are very thin, cover the image with no gaps, and the whole thing disappears as soon as I release the mouse button. I never use that, and that's why it was unfamiliar to me.

I'm of no help, so I'll just wait till you solve it...

I could not replicate the issue in both regular PS CC and Beta.

Since you are using LRC it will not be easy to figure that one out. Clear the program cache as well as the generic mac cache. If this does not work:
- Contact Adobe to check if they have seen that
- Uninstall then reinstall (last resort)

It's not a cropping screen as it disappears at some points. Got to agree with the wire suggestions but as to where it comes from...................

Could it be a leftover from a past image?
Do you format the card after each download?

Yes, I had formated card in camera before shooting. Thanks for your input!

Yesterday, while I was trying to investigate your problem, I inadvertently turned on this grid by clicking this toggle at the bottom right of the screen. I forgot about it until this morning, and when I opened a couple of raw files in Camera Raw, there was the grid. I have never actually used this for anything, so I never noticed the sliders at the top for size and opacity. It took me a while to remember how to turn it off.

Your LrC interface will be different, but it appears that at some point you had this turned on and got it embedded in the image. Why it only comes up partially, I have no idea, and how it became permanent is also a mystery. Another mystery is why this grid is there at all, since I can't think of any practical use for it. As previously mentioned, it comes and goes automatically when rotating, but why it needs to be on all the time is puzzling to me.

This is probably not terribly helpful, but at least I know where it came from...
