I don't have a Nikon Z and I wonder if mounting a Z lens you turn it clockwise or counterclockwise like the F mount lenses?

Well I guess I have to find it out for myself by RTFM. It's still counterclockwise like the F mount lens.

If reading hurts your eyes you could just use the alignment dots.

The alignment dot doesn't tell you which way to turn. Well I had to download the manual because I don't own a Z body. If I do I would have read the entire manual and not asking the question.

When you align the dots you can readily see which way to rotate so as to get the lens to be right side up.

I never did DL the manual cuz Id already bought the Busche book almost a year before the camera. Similar to yourself, I like to *really* know about what I might be buying. If the book had indicated NOT buying the camera, I could always sell it for half price. $25 to minimize risk is OK with me. I could ask the book or ask the Hawgster bunch. That decision was just waaaaaay too easy.

Like the F.
Opposite from the lefty/loosey, righty/tightly rule of everything else including things like filters and other screw in accessories.
So it can be a bit confusing.

I am a Nikon user so it's actually not confusing.

There are many who use other systems and Nikon.
I have Nikon and others.
Everything else is the opposite.

Oh well, the aperture ring, the focusing ring and even the meter display (when it's horizontal) are all opposite. They changed the meter display so that now the + sign is default to be on the right but you can set it to be on the left just like old time.
But at least they didn't change the lens mounting rotation on the new Z. and that's a good thing.

Yup. Particularly noticeable when using FTZ…all in the same direction.

And "same" applies to the FTZ adapter too.

Consider the FTZ. If the Z didnt follow tradition, users with new Z lenses mixed with old lenses on the FTZ would have a really mixed bag !
