I hesitated on posting this but, I really like to comment on others work!!
Lately I there have been many new members posting great images without checking the (Store original) box and their images while very/good to fantastic lack definition making colors look unreal and or imparting a "shimmer"to the image, This makes it hard for me to comment on the images.
I know my comments may not be important to some people, but the very nice, great, etc. comments, do not help those who are wanting to improve their work.
If you are worried about your work being (stolen), it can happen , but most UHH members respect the other photographers and ask permission to edit, alter or use your image and I have seen some offer to pay the right to use.
Off my Soap Box now.

I agree with Frank. Some new members don't know about the feature; others just don't want to use it.

Please note
- Due to the size of images posted, many are not big enough (px size) to be marked as downloadable. Folks are posting too small to start with.
- External links are used to show images (IMG tags). These are reduced 'on the fly' and does warn that you can see the original by clicking on them (flicker does that).

On a recent post I used the IMG tag to link to a video yet if you right-click and open the image on a new browser tab you can see what the image in its 'real size. Something few folks are aware of.

Link to sample as described...

Frank / all - the integrity of the UHH Community is not at issue. Rather, every member should recognize the site is publicly facing, with no access restrictions. You don't have to be a credentialed member to browse all content. You don't have to be a credentialed member to download all attached / posted content. Being a "credentialed member" (ie - user name and password) only enables being able to post content (new threads and replies) and to enable the private messaging.

Anyone concerned about their work being stolen should never post any of it publicly anywhere on the internet. period. One can make it difficult to download or copy, but you can't stop the determined image thief for anything that appears on the public internet. In terms of making it difficult, or not worthwhile, adding a watermark to a resized image is a reasonable compromise. Or, using linking technology from a more secure site like Flickr, or your personal website.

That 'public facing' aspect should also remind people to not post personally identifiable information onto this site. No email addresses, no mailing addresses, no phone numbers. This comes up most in the For-Sale section, where the PM - Private Message - feature exists for the 1 on 1 communication of these personal details.

This used to be more important when the thumbnail was only 600 px wide. It was changed to close to 2,000 a couple of years ago. For most viewers who aren't pixel peeping, 2,000 surely is sufficient.

Frank, I'm curious how you know for sure that the thumbnail is not a true representation of the original, if you don't have the original to compare? I've seen some pretty wild edits - and not just in the playful pp sections

Alas, the frequency of an uncalibrated colorspace appears to be increasing, rather than decreasing, in my casual viewing habits of the Photo Gallery. Too many RAW shooters. Too many AdobeRGB JPEG shooters. Too much refusal of Adobe Lightroom, or similar digital asset management software. I've tried to help.

What happens when you set your camera to Adobe RGB?

I think that would depend on why people are posting. I might take a shot I think is nice, and I'll post it. If a shot doesn't turn out the way I expected, I might post it and click "store original" and ask for comments. I don't expect to have UHH put all my shots into permanent storage.

I think many people post pictures just to post them rather than to have "faults" pointed out.

LOL
Thats my gripe/concern
I have seen images that the thumbnail looks great to then in Download Its fantastic, awesome etc.
Will not say an image is good if it is not good, nice, very nice or fantastic etc.
I don't like saying the image is crap even if it is.
