If anyone uses the iPhone 14 Pro telephoto lens can you tell me what you think of it and what is its focal length.

I can't help you with your question, but I figure if I have to carry attachments for my Mobile Phone I may as well just take my Canon R series with a 24-105mm lens (or 24-240mm).
I did take this picture with my Galaxy 23 Ultra, hand held about 20 feet way.

I have the iPhone 14 Pro and used it extensively while visiting Israel. For short telephoto and wide shots, I was very surprised (satisfied) by the results. However, I used it a couple days ago to film a grandchild’s school musical. It was light enough inside but when I went to 2x and beyond, I found the noise and blur too much. I shot candids in RAW, but I don’t think we can shoot video in RAW.

Supposedly, the iPhone 14 Pro has the following: 13mm (ultra wide), 24mm (1x main lens), 48mm (2x main lens), 77mm (3x main lens). The 2x is done digitally by shifting to using a 48mp sensor and then cropping down to 12mp. They say that approximates 48mm view. I’m not sure how they do the 77mm.

For me, using 2-3x in video, does not give good results. Using 2-3x for photos, while traveling, I found acceptable.

Not positive about the pro, but I use the 14 pro max and it takes decent photos at 2x. Like this one.

I have the 14 Pro Max and just snapped these three photos from the same place for you to see. They are 1X, 2X, and 3X. The wind is blowing and the subject matter is not important, it’s only for your evaluation of crispness. Download and check out the tree trunks. Best wishes.

You might find more results in the "Smart Phone" section.

I now have the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max and I Love the camera which has "Close-Up" (Macro-ish) 0.5, 1X, 2, 3, Time-Lapse 1X, and 3, Cinematic 1X & 3, Video 0.5, 1X, 2, 3, Photo 0.5, 1X, 2, 3, Portrait 2X with "Light Adjustments", and "Pano" settings. It soots in Raw (DNG) and jpeg. Collectively, this is far more than my DSLR kit is capable of, and I always have it with me.
I always shoot "Wide" to leave some template material so that I may crop get to the 3:2 format of my DLSR files.
As part of my workflow, I usually run all (iPhone/DSLR) files through Topaz Photo AI (Default Settings - primarily for low-light noise) and then PhotScape X for color/sizing issues to suit my taste.
The bottom line for me is that whenever I don't have my "Real" camera with me I may still get an acceptable straight-out-of-the-camera shot with my iPhone and immediately share it if I wish to do so.
Wives Love that, grin.
I know that I didn't answer your question about the focal length, which was addressed by a previous responder. However, the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max with "Close-Up" (Macro-ish) 0.5, 1X, 2, 3, Time-Lapse 1X, and 3, Cinematic 1X & 3, Video 0.5, 1X, 2, 3, Photo 0.5, 1X, 2, 3, Portrait 2X with "Light Adjustments", and "Pano" settings should address just about anything that you may wish to record at a high level of quality.

The attachment is of a small variety of Azalea (Rhododendron), cropped and reduced in size.

I have the iPhone 13 Pro Max which is very similar to the 14 Pro Max. But both of them have dedicated optical lenses, including the telephoto lens which is fixed. All three have digital zoom capability beyond the lenses’ fixed focal lengths. There is no reason to get sharp, crisp images if the optical focal length is used.

By the way, the Smartphone Photography section is an excellent forum to post this question.

Nice shot JimmyT. That could easily go to 8x10 and maybe 11x14. To the OP…don’t get me wrong, there are things an iPhone can’t do, so I'm keeping my 7100.

Thanks, and I will keep my RP & R5 because they are more capable.
However, they are not always with me, or convenient to take along like my iPhone.
Best Wishes,

I have the RP and also a Canon G -15. I was thinking of replacing the G-15 with a G-9x II, but the G-9 has been impossible to find locally since I prefer to pay cash. So I was thinking that the iPhone 14 Pro could substitute for the Canon G. One problem is the lack of a viewfinder on the cellphone

I have two 16x24 IPhone 8+ images hanging next to a 16x24 Fuji XT-1 image and they all look amazing.

So an iPhone can do 16x24, that’s good to know Fstop. Thanks. Out of curiosity, what is the approximate viewing distance?
