Hi
I have just started with DSLR photography and purchased a Canon EOS 600d camera in June 2012. I would like to try my hand at landscape photography and have the capability to take building interior photographs without having to move so far back to catch the subject of the photo. I need a wide angle lens but don't know which would be best for me.
Can someone please give me some advice.
Thanks

Hi
Thanks for your reply, I am in Northern Scotland. I am always wary about purchasing used goods.
If I intend to purchase new is this the lens I should look at buying with my limited knowledge?
Appreciate your advice

I use it on my 60D, 7D and 5D
It is a stunning lens I use at every wedding I cover for inside and out
Pre Owned, NEW, I avboid NEW as often as I can.
I have had some trouble with items (never photographic) on ebay but i have NEVER EVER been let down on ebays refund policy even when the seller has refused, Ebay refund and take it back from the seller.
ALL you have to do to cover yourself in ALL areas is ask
"Is the lens/camera/whatever, in good working order with no markes on the elements and no fungus"
If they don't reply walk away, if they say yes, you are 100% covered.

As in my reply above, this is the most amazing lens, and will certainly work.
I also have a mint condition one of these
http://www.lcegroup.co.uk/Used/Cosina-AF-19-35mm-f/3.5-4.5-MC-Canon-Fit_57303.htmlIn Black for the Canon which I will be selling for £55 including postage. And I MEAN Mint, and mine comes with the lens hood and back/front covers.
I certainly would be interested in purchasing your lens for £55 including postage.
As I am a novice this is a good option to get started with.
Thank you for your help.
Bob
Hi & welcome.
Wide angle for landscapes on your camera would be a 10 - 20mm zoom (angle of view equal to 16 - 32mm on a full frame camera) this range would also suit shooting indoors. There is a shop north of Inverness just outside Beauly called Ffordes web site
www.ffordes.com They have a good range of lenses new and 2nd hand

I have a Canon 10 - 20mm USM and love it.
Consider the Sigma 10-20mm. It's a cracking lens and you should be able to pick up the older f4-f5.6 at a saving of well over £100 on the latest f3.5
I agree with the posters that have said for your camera with it's crop factor of 1.6, you should consider a wider lens like a 10-20mm.
I have the Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 lens on my EOS 60D and love it. Would highly recommend.
I also use the Sigma 10-20mm on my Canon 50D. It's a great lens, and you should consider it if thinking of a wide angle.
I also think that a 10-20 is much more suitable for what you want to do than a 20-35.
In this sort of range there are 3 common options.
Sigma 10-20mm (I also prefer the older cheaper f4-f5.6 version)
Canon 10-22mm
Tokina 11-16mm
I have seen the Canon and the Sigma and couldn't pick which was better. But the Sigma is probaly half the price of the Canon.
I haven't seen the Tokina in action. Apparently the good ones are very good - but not all samples are good ones.

You can add the Tamron 11-18mm to that list. I used one for a few years - Not as good as the Sigma, but quite acceptable.
