I have been checking this lens out. I have an R6 body and use an ef adaptor. My question is ......is this lens for a full frame body or for a S body. I have looked at ebay and maybe i'm seeing two different lens. I don't want a S lens.

The 18-400 made for Canon is a Tamron lenses. It is an EF-s mount for aps-c crop sensor bodies though it will mount on FF R bodies using the EF to RF adapter. The FF R camera will go to a cropped image mode when an aps-c lenses is mounted on it.

It would work great on an R7.
No one makes a zoom lens of that ratio (400/18 or 22.2:1) or even 15:1 for a full frame.

If you want a wide-range zoom that's full frame capable for an R-series camera, the RF 24-240mm is probably your best bet. Or adapt an EF 28-300mm. I believe the EF lens was discontinued not long ago, so is only available used, but it is a weather resistant "L" series lens. The RF lens is not, but it's also about half the weight.

Regardless of technology, my contention is that while a 20:1 zoom may deliver acceptable results across the range, it will not be as good as a zoom with a limited range such as 3:1. In essence, we trade some amount of ultimate performance for the convenience and versatility of a single lens. Photography is filled with such compromises - when I travel, I compromise and trade the ultimate performance of my FF for the light weight and size of my crop Fuji.
