12 O'clock High is available to view on Amazon Prime Video. I was very young when this show originally aired but I remember enough about it to want to watch it now. Seasons 1 and 2 are in B&W. Color came along in season 3. I've enjoyed the stories but also seeing a lot of great stars from back then and some stars who weren't famous yet.
For those who don't know or have forgotten this show was about a B-17 Bomber squadron during WWII. The first Commanding Officer was played by Robert Lansing in season 1. In season 2 they changed to Paul Burke.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I am.

I remember the show being on but don’t remember ever watching it.
B-17 is probably thecoolest WW II era plane I can think of.
I’ll look into cking this out.
My Uncle Dick piloted 25 missions in Europe in a B-17 and lived!

My cousin Edwin was radio operator and gunner on B-17 that was shot down and he wound up in Stalag 2. I used to right letters to him at the P.O.W. camp (I was about 14 at that time)

Many thanks to your Uncle for his service! I don't know how close to reality the show is but if it is close then the loss of crew and planes was very heavy.
I hope you enjoy the show.

Black Sheep Squadron is a favorite of mine also. It's one of the many great shows that I purchased on DVD. Another I really liked and purchased was Combat!

If you have access, give it a look. I think it was a great show. I know that it was originally a book that was made into a movie and tv series.
I hope you enjoy it!

I'm very happy that was the case. Thank you for sharing that with me.

I'll look it up this Memorial Day. Another great series was Victory At Sea with a wonderful sound track.

Robert Lansing starred as Gen. Frank Savage in the TV series.

Correct! He was replaced in Season 2 by Paul Burke who played Col Joe Gallagher. The info I found said Lansing was too hard to deal with and they wanted someone younger.
I am now on season 2 and am really enjoying all the stars that are gone or no longer acting. James Whitmore, Jr, Andrew Prine, Lois Nettleton, Andrew Duggan, Burt Reynolds, Bruce Dern, Pete Duel, Claudine Longet to name just a few.
