Why Ten Commandments displays have no place in public schools

"The preeminent purpose for posting the Ten Commandments on schoolroom walls is plainly religious in nature. The Ten Commandments are undeniably a sacred text in the Jewish and Christian faith, and no legislative recitation of a supposed secular purpose can blind us to that fact. The commandments do not confine themselves to arguably secular matters, such as honoring one’s parents, killing or murder, adultery, stealing, false witness, and covetousness. Rather, the first part of the commandments concerns the religious duties of believers: worshiping the Lord God alone, avoiding idolatry, not using the Lord’s name in vain, and observing the Sabbath Day."

This is Christian propoganda, and the proponents of these displays are liars out to force Christianity on everyone.

Where did you get that big red nose? I suppose it's good, so you don't have to look at your big fat feet.

If so, a pretty Jewish text was chosen to force feed Christianity. Why not the Lord's Prayer?

When they were written, there were no Christians. To my knowledge, there has never been even one man on earth who can say they have obeyed all ten, save One. As opposed to the anti-nature and anti- religion crap they force feed children currently in schools, I'll take the Ten Commandments any day as a guide to how we should live our lives.

I believe that even an atheist would have to admit that if everyone in the world observed the 10 Commandments, we would be in a much better world than we are in right now.

Well, at least it didn't include any of the usual bs about the non-existant "separation of church and state".

Man's nature is always resistant to any Higher Power over him, as the evidence shows over history. I can't think of one man made government that didn't end badly.

Re-read the first four; definitely not fodder for atheists.

And, this country would not exist if it had paid attention to the murder, steal, and covet commandments.

Its not propaganda nor can Christianity be forced on anyone. No force can make anyone believe so this premise is dishonest

One can easily argue that ‘pride’ flags have no place being displayed anywhere in public either.

They can certainly try to force their religiion on others. And while they can't make others believe, they can coerce others into acting like they do.

"Pride" flags are an attempt to overcome the persecution and raise awareness of the rights of others. They are not an attempt to force people to be gay or act gay or pretend to be gay.

BS - "Pride" flags, banners, etc., are designed to coerce folks into falling for their mental illnesses. LGBTQ*** - is coercive in its base nature. And corporations, etc., which display such signage, have been coerced into doing so.

WTFU

I think jcboy is setting up a straw man. Has anybody heard of public schools displaying the Ten Commandments or of this even being an issue?

We'll leave the display of the Ten Commandments to the doors of the Supreme Court court room. They are the basis of law upon which our society is based. That's why they are there.

With all due respect, you are reading some thing into what I wrote. I agree that an atheist would deny the validity of the first four Commandments. My assertion is that they would have to acknowledge that if the entire world observed numbers five through 10, it would be a better world.
