One of my daily tips from The Family Handyman. Actually, they recommend this as an impromptu mallet. 
Another tip: If you need a long match, but you don't have one, use a piece of spaghetti. NOTE! It must be uncooked! 🤣

I have a mallet, in fact I have several. Haven't used a hammer in years.

The easy way: soak in Dawn solution overnight. It softens baked on debris making the job much easier.

If you hit a finishing nail really hard with a rubber mallet, the mallet acts like a magnet.
