Mockingbird with unreal "autumn leaf" backlit bokeh.
Some of you may have seen the recent series that I posted titled "Various Birds with Glowing Backlit Autumn Leaf Bokeh". After I posted those, I was studying the landscape in my back yard and noticed a really colorful area that had no structure for any birds to land on. I found a dead branch and propped it up against a small pine tree so it would be in front of that space to see if any birds would land there.
One of my favorite birds is the Mockingbird and for years I have watched them playing around the telephone poles in front of our house, but they would NEVER come around the feeders in the back yard. It was literally about 5 minutes after I propped up that dead branch that this little guy landed there ... definitely an OMG moment!
That is one beautiful photo!! In this instance you can't say patience wins. you have to say get he 'H' out of the way so I can land and don't forget your camera.

Thanks very much tramsey! The (kind of) funny thing is that I haven't seen any other birds that have landed there since this one.
Beautiful shot, Larry, and if you'll put out some of my peanut butter mix you'll have mockingbirds at your feeder :-)

Yes very nice shot...a little bit of planning goes a long way it seems.

Thanks Bret ... I've been "planting" more branches in select areas since this one!
