I was in SLC over the weekend visiting family. Years ago I did business with Pictureline, a camera store up there. They were so nice, and I've always wanted to visit them. We went. It's a beautiful store, with lots of floor help and just about everything one would ever want IN STOCK! i asked about the R3 because I wanted to just hold it and look at it. I bought it! I had to go back because I found out it requires a different card than what I had. I'm still figuring it out. One downside: I was excited to see there was a book in the box. However, it's nothing but Canon disclaimers about how they aren't responsible if one does stuff wrong. So I have to download the instruction book, which I hate because they aren't convenient to put in a camera bag. But so far, I love it! The eye-controlled focus works! And the eye-finder works. I pointed it at a bird across the street, and the focus point went directly to its eye! Maybe I won't get any more black blobs!

Oh, and BTW, it was on sale, and I got some other stuff discounted as well. These guys are great!

Pictureline is a great camera store. I stop every time I pass through SLC and have never left empty-handed.

I'm going to try to find one I can buy. Surely it's available. I watched 2 videos this morning.

Sometimes you cant find a big "bible" book for a camera thaz still new to the market. One year after its intro theres still no book for my GH6 from favorite sources such as Busche, Young, etc.

-------------------<0>-------------------

Its not like I cant set up and use the camera straight out of the box, but Im always encountering conflicts or odd behavior that can be rather tedious to resolve by experimentation. Solving conflicts can be fun, but encountering new glitches while actually using the camera is NOT fun.

I'm never very successful at finding what I'm looking for doing it in a searchable document. Not sure why. But I'm not printing out 1096 pages! I think putting it on my phone is probably the best idea. I'm not sure I have enough storage space on it!

That 1096 pages is shorter than the iPhone manual.

Only about 20% of people read them, and they’re too big for camera bags, so… Now you know why they quit printing them and stuffing them in the box.

Jens and his crew at Pictureline are great. When I was selling professional Fujifilm back in the 80s and 90s they were one of my best customers. And when I switched over to Digital sales, they were right there with an order. Never had to worry about them not servicing the customer.
I just had a similar experience. Been shooting a D800 for the last 10 years and decided to downsize. Opted to go back home and got a Fuji XH2. As an ex employee I can buy direct from Fuji at a good guy price. Well, I got the camera today and no manual. I gave my contact a call and he said printed manuals are a thing of the past. (I guess I am, too.) I'll be downloading the 404 page manual to my phone as well. Good luck with your new camera.

Congratulations.
I agree about the book but I put my R7 nearly 1,000 pages on my cellphone.
I thought I would hate it but I have gotten used to it and it isn't too bad.
Have fun and post some R3 shots for us all to enjoy.
