I have Ray0Vac, Energizer AA batteries leaked. This time the Duracell leaked. I put it in the Nikon F4s a month ago and now I found that it leaks. The voltage is still 1.5V. Expiration date 2031. Assembed in the USA. The F4 didn't drain the battery. I will call them tomorrow morning and see what they would do.
RayOVac and Energizer paid for the damage device. It took a while.

All alkaline AAs and AAAs eventually leak. The answer is Eneloop rechargeables.

I never had the problem many years ago. But I have this problem so often in recent years. Like 5 years.

Same here and well within the date stamps.

The ones I've had a problem with is Duracell AAA. Very prone to leak.
But they seem to power longer than Energizers.

I used a lot of AA and AAA , and some 9v batteries , They only leak after years in devices , not months .So dont know what your issue is .

Batteries leak after years in the device and completely exhausted is the norm. But in recent years I have found batteries that leaked only weeks in the device or even in their bubble pack. Way short of expiration date and yes the one that leaked in the device still have almost full power. This is where my concern is.

The ONLY alkaline AA or AAA leaking problems I’ve ever had are cases where I forgot them and they were left in unused devices and discharged, then eventually leaked.

That used to be the case but not any more.

I have also noticed premature leaking of Kirkland batteries, which were once the #1 rated battery by Consumers Report. For my photo gear, I stick with Eneloops.

I suspect that they have changed the chemisty for some reason that make them more prone to leakage. I couldn't really find out the reason. I think it has to do with some regulation changes.
Duracell said they will send me a coupon for new batteries but since the Nikon F4 is OK they don't do anything about it.

I spent a few bucks and am trying out the rechargeable Li-ion aa size batteries. I originally purchased them because of the battery warnings I would get when using eneloop batteries. I have been using them in different devices, have worked out well so far.
