Move only 1 match to fix the equation. And NO...you cannot make the = into a ≠ (not-equal).

Move the left bottom vertical match from "8" and rotate it 90 degrees. Mate to the top and left of the "1." Result: 7 + 2 = 9.

Remove vertical match from plus sign; place it diagonally on equal sign. Result: 1 - 2 ≠ 8

Bultaco: The result doesn't have to equal eight. It only has to be a good equation. The left and right sides of the equal sign must be equal. If you look at the very first response to the puzzle, the responder had it right.
