Nikon Zfc - Back Button focus?

I have scoured the manual and can't find any where if this camera is capable of back button focus. My other Nikons have a AF-L and AF-on buttons. The Zfc has only one button: AE-L and AF-L. The only focus method I've found is the half press shutter method.

A6 AF Activation *** AF-ON only *** Scroll to Right *** Disable
F2 Custom Control Shooting *** Touch Ae/Af *** Scroll Up to AF-ON

That's what I got out of the video ???

Jerry,
Thank you for trying to help. The video went through the steps quickly so I played and paused to go through the steps. I did this 5 times, but the AE AF button would not focus. The camera focuses perfectly with the shutter button, but when it's off and I reset the custom controls according to the video, the BBF will not function. Either the button is malfunctioning OR there is another control that I have not set correctly. I may have to go through a complete reset and start from there. Before I do that, is there something I missed?
Thanks,
Dave

Bill, Again, I tried these steps 5 times with no results. The shutter focus function is disabled, but the BBF still does nothing when pressed. I even removed the kit zoom and installed the 40mm f2 lens to simplify and allow more light, but still no change.

Did you catch that at the end where it says scroll up, you will be scrolling into a part of the list that isn't visible until you scroll?

I'll double check that.
Thanks

I will have to do a reset and go through it from scratch. Now I can't get the screen shots shown in the video.
Thanks for your efforts.

I do not have a Zfc, so cannot verify my thoughts, but the directions being discussed seem exactly backward and overly complicated from what I do when I use BBF on my Nikons. The idea is to enable AF-ON and turn off focus on shutter half-press. Since AF-ON is enabled by default, all I have to do is turn off half-press activation. It's a one-step change, except for switching to continuous focus. On every one of my cameras, the choice in the Custom Setting menu is simply called AF Activation, and it simply needs to be set to "Off."

Larry,
All of my Nikon DSLRs have been simple. The video Jerry supplied shows that this even flumoxed the person who made the video and even then I couldn't manage it after multiple attempts and then after a total reset - still nichts!
So, not so simple OR my AF EF button is malfunctioning.

Read the OP. Different model than yours. No dedicated "AF On" button. He must reassign some button to act as "AF On".

That very difference is his problem. On the smaller simpler Zfc body theres just fewer operating buttons :-(

Jerry is the Uber Link Czar ... he seems to have a humongous library of them, which suggests he wont get much chance to vet them. I suspect he blindly gathers them willy nilly. Just find another tutorial.

Read the first sentence of my reply. And...none of my cameras have a dedicated AF-ON button either. Those disappeared when the second joystick was added. It's labelled AF-ON, but serves the same as those labelled otherwise.

AE \ AF button gets used for AF with the Zfc. Getting there is the issue.

Since you write that "AF On is enabled by default", I took it as referring to an "AF On" button on *your* camera model.

For example, on my cameras a dedicated "AF On" button is enabled by default, even when Shutter Button AF is active, marked "which acoarst will just override whatever focus you had already achieved via the dedicated AF button :-(

Obviously, my dedicated marked "AF On" button aint worth much unless youre set up for BBF.
