I work mostly in LR6, because I don't really understand how to control 'where' PSE selects the source material to clone / heal. This edit is mostly LR6, for adjustments to the WB, and the blacks & whites of the original, and sharpening. The file reported Luminar AI created the file, where again, I think an original from the camera would be a better source for detailed edits. The "blending" tools in PSE are even better, so most of the bench removal was done in PSE until PSE started selecting unhelpful content. I just came back to LR6 and finished.

To learn how to use your PSE, you'd goggle something like: google u-tube cloning pse. Watch the resulting videos for the tools used and how, and see if you can do the same on an original version of this image.

Hello Hoggers, As the title says, this is my first post in this section. I do very basic PP and have PSE 20 and also Luminar AI.

My grand-neice was in a dance recital at a high school auditorium. I mention HS auditorium so you get the idea of how far away I was. I was in the last row with my Tamron 18-400 on a Canon 70D. Anyway, I've spent almost 2 hours trying to get rid of the chair/table to her right. I think because of the background's color and texture, I could not come close.

I am going to use this photo to make a 'paint by numbers' painting. Can anyone help me?

TIA,

Tony

Mike, you and SodaPop did a great job of removing the red lighting. How did you do that?

Or, not nearly as high resolution (although no red face), and could be improved with effort, literally less than 30 seconds on a Pixel phone using "Erase"...

Perhaps trying a different coloured background may be better. Just play around starting with white.

I have just noticed that another member has just changed the background.

Just a thought as it is a very nice photo.

Hi Paul,

There are a number of ways to tackle this problem, such as using the HSL and/or the Channel Mixer tools to shift individual colors. I use these methods if all the information is still present in the image, i.e. no significant color channel clipping. Maybe the raw has more information, but the posted image has significant clipping occurring. The red channel has significant clipping in the highlights with blue and green clipped in the shadows.

Another approach is to just convert the image to BW removing all color from the image. Once in BW, adding color back into the image is much easier since you're not starting with an overwhelming color cast. If you need color accuracy, then adding color a section at a time using separate solid color layers is my preferred approach. You select the required color for each element of the image, set the blend mode to color, set the mask to black and using a white brush, selectively paint the color back into the image. This is where luminosity masks can be a huge aid.

If color accuracy is not required or you don't know what the true colors were, then AI can be extremely helpful. There are many different online services and most usually provide good results. But all, so far, require some level of editing. In the case of this image, the true colors were so overwhelmed by the red stage lighting that color shifting wasn't the best option. I converted this image to BW and used an online AI app to create a basic color foundation. From there I adjusted the various colors using the PS channel mixer tool. There are a number of AI apps that I've used, including the Colorize in the PS neural filter section. While the PS Colorize is usually good for skin tones, generally the online apps do a better job overall.

Here's two quick examples using PS colorize and an online AI colorize app.
