After an exceptionally long, cloudy, wet and cold spring in Western Oregon we went from rain in the 40s & 50s to sunshine and the upper 80s practically overnight. I was happy to get out and about a couple days this week to photograph a hodgepodge of "springtime" things.
Sun rising over the shoulder of Mt. Hood. The first day I talked myself into a 4am start in order to catch the sunrise at the tulip fields. Sunrise wasn't spectacular but was okay with some color.

Some "in your face" color. There was a little too much wind to be successful with focus stacking this time, so I just had to make do with single shots.

The tulips were a couple of weeks late in blooming this year due to the weather. You can't tell from this view, but only about half the fields were in bloom so far.

The next day I headed through the Columbia River Gorge. Stopped in the early AM before the crowds arrive to take a few shots of one of our main attractions, Multnomah Falls. I need to go back in a few days when the deciduous trees have leaves.

Over on the dry side of the gorge east of the Cascades the Balsamroot were blooming nicely and dotting the hillsides with color.

I really have no idea what plant this is but I though it was really attractive. Love the color.

I stopped at Hood River to check the status of blooms on the fruit orchards. It's a week or so early, but I had to grab a shot of Mt. Hood watching over the valley. Wish I owned that place on the round hill with that view off my deck.

Beautiful images!!!! Thanks for taking me on a sentimental memory of the state I grew up in.
Beautiful. The Tulip fields remind me of my trip to Holland.
