I just read each and every response and appreciate all of them. I can always get lots of info from this site. I should clarify on the LR, I think the catalog was what I lost. I know my photos are still on the laptop, but are absent from the catalog. I did save the better photos to folders on the PC. I just really feel it's time for a new start with a new LR catalog ( online subscription service). Oh, and I have backed up the folders on external hard drives.
My current laptop is an HP and has been a great one. I will keep using it, as it is my Netflix buddy. I don't hear well and use earphones, so I don't disturb the rest of the house.
Last night, I contacted HP and chatted with a sales person. It's probably the easiest purchase I've ever made. I asked for suggestions for what I needed and she really came through. This is what I decided on: Windows 11 Home 12th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor Intel® UHD Graphics 16 GB memory; 512 GB SSD storage 13.5" diagonal 3K2K touch display. It can be used as a tablet, as well. 32" " 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution monitor for my failing eyesight and "HP 650 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo. It was all on sale plus she knocked off another $100, so I didn't break the bank at $1800 tax and all. I think I will be very happy with it. Thanks again for all your responses. Oh, and I'm a 71 year old lady who can't see, can't hear and some days feeling my age, but I'm taking a bucket list trip to Africa in June and want to get and process the best photos and videos I'm capable of. Again, thanks so much!

I hate to post mortem your purchase, but the lack of a separate graphics card is going to make some types of post processing VERY slow. If you haven’t taken delivery, I’d inquire if a separate graphics card is an option with this or a similar product.
