The image was initially scanned to a 24-bit JPEG. Converting it to a 48-bit TIFF before editing in Capture One makes it easier to do lots of things to the luminosity without introducing banding. It helps that I started from a 67MP scan and that I only used the Exposure, Levels and Keystone adjustments.
There is no easy way to change the white balance in the scanned image. Altering the colors is extremely difficult. The B&W version removes the colors from the dark tones and the dim light panels at the top.
