I'm thinking of downsizing my flash collection which is rarely used. I have a sb900 sb910 2 sb700s and a Metz 52 af-1. My question is does anyone have a Metz that has lasted as long as the Nikons. When I use this Metz it performs just as well and has great power. Curious of the longevity if anyone has one.
I think they last the same. I have both Metz and Nikon flashes from the late 70's early 80's still working fine. Of course I have a few broken ones too from both brands.
I have a Metz 48 that is probably over 15 years old. Mine will last forever because I rarely use it, or any of the Flashpoint guns or controllers I bought as a result of GAS. I just don't do flash photography as much as I thought I would. When I use the METZ works wonderfully and is my go to. It feels sturdy too.

The best thing for longevity of any flash unit is to charge the capacitors. I used to charge mine at least once every two months. Just pop the batteries in, flash it a couple of times, then leave it fully charged and take the batteries out.
I have a Metz that still works fine - I’m not sure when I bought it, but it’s at least thirty years old.
Wow! "collection" is right. I have two, which I seldom use.
Sell the Broken ones on eBay for Parts, won't get much, but people looking to Repair a Similar Nikon Or Metz Flash & can't find Parts, could use the Parts from your Non working Flashes if you sell them on eBay.
