Easter images

Every year at Easter my pastor goes through the first 100 images on Google when he searched for Easter. I did it myself just a few minutes ago. Seems like less than 5% (I didn't actually count) of the pics have anything to do with what people of many faiths believe should be the most appropriate images of Easter, The cross and/or the empty grave, NOT an uber-commercialized display of bunnies, eggs and candy. Just my 2¢.

My church has a permanent mission presence in the Philippines, started years ago by a retired pediatrician who was born there. He apparently even got some prestigious award from the government for his humanitarian work. I've sponsored a school child, but I haven't been able to afford to go on a mission trip there (help feed kids, etc).

We attend the Baguio Chinese Baptist Church, for two reasons - The services are in English and it's a good, sound fundamental church.

Google results are based on popularity: what other users search for. Google searches are meaningless in terms of what is considered "appropriate" for a specific religious holiday. Christmas is surely worse?

When I lived in Memphis my friend Steven Chow attended a Baptist church that had a sermon spoken in Chinese at 2:00 p.m. each Sunday. So now we have people who go to a Chinese church to hear a sermon in English and Chinese people go to an English-speaking church to hear a sermon in Chinese! What a world we live in!

That's pretty cool...and funny at the same time.
