My daughter broke her camera and needs to replace it. She said she isn't ready for a DSLR, but would like something smaller with some options for adjustment. She likes to hike and cross country ski and would like something she can take along. She has two small children and they are her prime subjects. She is looking in the $200 to $300 range. Any suggestions?

I've always loved the Fuji range especially the F cameras. I always have my F200EXR in my pocket and I bought my daughter an F80EXR to replace the F200EXR she drowned on her hen party.

I have a friend that takes fantastic macros with a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-150. It is a bridge camera that uses a Leica lens and runs $399. I would imagine regular photos would be just as good.

I suggest Bridge Digital Cameras. I do recommend the Nikon CoolPix P510 because I have seen the crispy clear stills and videos shot with it by a camera club member. One to seriously consider is either of the two Sony Cyber-Shot because of the Carl Zeiss lens (best in the world).
