Why does make downloading photos from the drive to the computer so difficult? You cant drag or copy them. The download icon sends them right back to your drive. Any thoughts for this noncomputer Geek?

If for some reason you can’t drag and drop, select the images you want to copy (using the ctrl key as well if you want to select multiple images), right click and choose “copy”. Then select the destination location, right click and choose “paste”.

If you want to choose a group of images to copy, holding down the shift key, choose the first image and the last image, and the proceed with the copy and paste.

Both Google Drive and DropBox are counterintuitive. I've been uploading things to DB, and they get there, but not the way I want. It's drag and drop, but the software decides how to do it.

Can you be a bit more descriptive on the operation you are attempting. Is the drive that contains the photos connected to the computer? Are you attempting to move or copy the photos from one connected drive to another connected drive? Or, are you copying the photos from a memory card and placing them on a drive?

Thank you for your reply. When I copy and paste, there is no option to paste. One suggestion I found while searching, was a program to buy.
Dagonnit, these are my photos, and Google is holding them hostage.

Thanks for replying Mark. They are videos, (sorry I kept calling them photos) that were sent to me via a link so that they could be restored. It is more convenient for me at least, to have them on my hard drive

I may be wrong, but here is what I think:
1. you can store the link(s) in a folder and store on your drive.
2. you need software to actually store the videos.

Good luck,
Mark

If the videos are on the web via links, definitely.
I used "savefrom.net" before it was "kinda banned" in the US. It worked very well.

Look on the menu when you right click, at the bottom choose “more”, you’ll find “paste” on the second page.

Once you figure this problem out I would delete any connection to Google Drive. It is so lamely constructed I’ve never understood why Google puts their name on it. There are lots of easier ways to move files around.

My "paste" stopped working but if you "copy" the item and then hold down "ctrl" "v, that should place it where you desire,

Ok, thanks, I will try it. Though they were supposed to do the same thing, nowadays we should not assume anything

I have been using - and still use - Google Drive for many years and honestly have no clue what kind of issues you guys are talking about. I am constantly uploading and downloading photos and other files w/out issues. BTW Google offers a desktop app for Windows and macOS that gives you access to your Google Drive via Windows Explorer / Finder very similar to how you would access the local hard disk of your computer

Copy and paste should work, but I know that downloading does work with Google's Drive. When you are looking at a directory in Google Drive with an icon and the file name, you should find three dots in a vertical row at the right of the name. Click there and select "Download." At least this works for me. --Richard
