Doves frequenting the feeder this year

I've never seen doves at my backyard feeder until this year. They are visiting daily now. I've seen as many as 3 at a time, with others calling from the trees. Mainly it is a mating pair that is visiting. The feeder and a few perches are right outside my office window, and they are entertaining to watch. I videoed the pair in a mating ritual yesterday.

They walk the ground picking up what gets dropped from the feeder by other birds. They pretty much ignore the squirrels. And I witnessed a face-to-face standoff between a dove and a large blue jay. Score was game bird 1, songbird 0.

Photos are not too bad given that they were all taken through a dirty window.

Apparently, they close their eyes when going in for a seed. Or maybe I caught a blink?

I have some in my back yard that will go on the feeder when there is nothing on the ground. But it has a large ledge on it for them to perch while feeding.
