Maybe one day I'll go mirrorless if I get bad GAS, live long enough, or some unforeseeable event causes me to. I know it's the future but I have really gotten some good deals on some great gear in the last few months and for that I've got to say thanks to some of you who have gone mirrorless. I made the move to full frame with a used D850, bought used Nikkor lenses: 14-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, all f2.8s, and a Nikkor 200-500mm. Camera and lenses all in excellent to like new condition and US models as well. The lens at about 1/2 price of new or even less.
Maybe I'll switch to mirrorless when the next big development takes place but for now I'm happy and believe I will be for the foreseeable future. I hope it doesn't get to the point Tums doesn't work anymore.

...............

I likewise have often thanked those who regularly upgrade. When they buy their markIV, I might buy their used markIII, or maybe a new markIII on clearance if the markIV is selling really strongly and "orphaning" the remaining markIIIs.

I do not understand the rush to buy mirrorless. My plan is to continue to use my Nikon D7200 and D7100 with Nikkor lenses until they fall apart.
But as it is more than likely that I will fall apart before they do, my kids will inherit the Nikons and continue
to use them for years to come.
The money saved by not going mirrorless will go for travel to exotic lands with great photo opportunities.

My wife is encouraging me to buy a mirrorless for an upcoming trip. She thinks lighter will be better. I haven’t disavowed the weight difference as it is not that much lighter. She is usually ambivalent about my purchases, rarely encourages but never complains. I wish I’d listened to her encouragement when we visited the Gibson guitar factory in Nashville.

My Nikon D7000 had over 140,000 shutter releases so I bought a Nikon D7500. I have a mirrorless Sony A6000, but I hate having to constantly turn it back on and carrying 5 spare batteries, because that camera eats them alive. It is light weight though.

Don’t be quick to jump on the mirrorless wagon. Remember, it is in motion and you could fall off and bump your head.
For many years, I would use film. I love it no matter what. It is a great standby and keeps me from getting lazy. When digital was the way to go, I picked up a brand new Canon EOS Rebel 2000. While everyone tried to convince me dSLR was the newest wave, I held on tight and didn’t let go. Then in 2012 I earned some overtime pay. I banked it for a 5D Mark II. Now I have a Mark IV. I have an interest in mirrorless but I’ll wait a few more years. I am not quick to jump on the wagon. Not just yet.

Every now and then I dust off my film camera and take it out for a roll.

When people tell me film is dead, I tel them no it isn’t. It just smells funny!

Paul Sager, I am a crotchety old coot from Brooklyn. Not a hipster!

Show a novice two similar images and say one came from a mirrorless camera, and they will ask for help in buying the superior camera.

The newest mirrorless cameras don't suffer from the same battery limitations of the older models.

If you're shooting with full-frame cameras and full-frame lenses, the weight difference is negligible, if there even is a difference from removing the mirror.

Another great CHG_CANON-ism. I always love them. You could write them down and sell as a book.

I believe if my wife would have encouraged me to buy a new Gibson, and I had the funds available, I would have jumped on that like a duck on a June bug!

From what I understand, as the camera does more, it pulls more juice from the battery. I’m not sure but the Rebel 2000 used 2 CR2 batteries. The 5D mark II used one E6 battery and drained within 4 hours of constant use. When the R3 came out every one was buying several additional batteries including 3rd party batteries. The camera seemed to gobble up more power. Now that isn’t solid proof but I believe that as a camera is requested to do more it will need more power.

But I’m salivating over the R3 even if I can afford it now.
