I have this growing in my "yard." Not a big patch of them, but several. The flowers are on top of a tiny stalk that's about 6-12" tall. The flowers are miniscule. These pics aren't wonderful. They're straight out of the camera. I took some backed off against my gas tank so you can maybe get an idea of their smallness. I'd really like to know what they are and Google apparently doesn't know.

Very nice. I think you have Texas Toadflax there - Nuttallanthus texanus.

According to my “Picture This” app, that plant is a Texas Toadflax. It says it is an annual that produces light blue flowers in the spring.

Thank you! Interesting that it's a Texas plant but growing in AZ. I haven't been to Texas in a long time.

I looked up lobelia. From the pictures they showed, it's not that. Thanks.

It is native to Arizona, despite the name. We have a related plant here, Canada Toadflax - Nuttallanthus canadensis. It can be found as far south as Florida. The names often reflect where the plant was first identified and catalogued.

I come across patches of them out here, people just call them "Blue Dicks". Generally large but sparse patches.

I started this year with one that was right in front of where I park my car. Then there were two. Now there are probably 50 or so - the patch is growing! But, they are really scattered.
