Er, they're lobster buoys. They mark the pot (aka lobster trap) or pot string location. You might want to change your title. Nice shots though.

Thanks for that information Mr. B. Being from the central US I've never seen a real lobster trap. Don't know how, or if it's possible to change the title.

Jack,
Don't feel bad. It would be a rare person that knew what they were unless you lived in a lobstering area. You might be interested to know that the paint patterns on the buoys are used to identify a particular fisherman's pot or string of pots. In some of the better lobstering areas you might find a dozen or more different buoys in close proximity.
