I like the semi-profile shots you managed to capture. They give some depth to the aircraft.

One of the toughest warbirds ever! And the Airforce keeps trying to get rid of them. A lot of ground troops owe their lives to them and their pilots!

Granted they are not very photogenic. But when you are up to your A$$ in alligators, you must remember your original intention was to drain the swamp.
That is a BadA$$ fighter.

Nice shots! If DoD would let the Army have them, they would be around a lot longer.

Good shots of a bad ass plane! There used to be a squadron of A-10's based out of Belle Chasse Naval Base in Louisiana, don't know if they are still there.

Exactly!!
But the "A" in A-10 indicates an attack aircraft, not a fighter. Not a superfluous point!

Thanks, Chief! I kinda forgot that detail. It’s a shame that a bird like that only seats one.

Yep! That would be quite a back-seat ride!

The Air Force has been supporting ground troops since the beginning. What makes you think the Air Force doesn't want to support the men on the ground?

Because they want to retire the A-10! Army helicopters can fill some of that role, but an F-35 at Mach 6 just ain't gonna cut it.

Because they keep trying to retire the Warthog. The best close air ground support aircraft on the planet!

So the A-10 is the only support the Air Force gives the ground troops? I'm not sure it has been tested against a competent enemy with ever improving defense systems. Even Ukraine isn't interested for some reason. I thought it would be perfect against all those tanks Russia has. Don't get me wrong, I love this plane. The old A-1 Sky Raider was another close air support craft, but vulnerable in its own way, slow and easy target.

That's probably true. While working on the next iteration!

The A-10 is famous as a tank killer. I don't know why it isn't being used in Ukraine!
