Wow Certainly apocalyptic looking 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

The Bay Area got an apocalyptic slap today as the "river" ran through. Thanks for the visit, Joe.

Beautiful image and a question. When did the term "atmospheric river" come into use? I have heard it a lot this year and understand what it means and find it appropriate, but has it been used prior to this year? Maybe I just missed it.

Thanks for the comment RodeoMan. I think the term has a very short history. I first heard it last year during a similar weather event. Google the definition and it makes sense, and I am sure some meteorologist is very pleased with coining the term.

Yes indeed, that river gets pointed up north here sometimes and that is a sky we've seen too many times.... Stay up high, dry and safe!

Great composite!

This one left a mark! It has moved on and we are getting a couple of dry days. Thanks for the comment, Rob.

Do we see a break here in N California? This is a composite, but this sky is no exaggeration!

Another great work, Phil!

Thank you Eugene, I always appreciate hearing from you my friend. I am trying to understand the difference
in appearance between the thumbnails and the downloads that I post here on UHH. The downloads look the way I process them, the thumbnails, not so much.
