Now that Ooma is working, it's time to pick a TV service. Then I can cancel phone and TV from Spectrum.

YouTube TV looks good, but it's $72 a month with unlimited recording. Sling costs just $50 a month, and my Tivo can record. YouTube offers 100 more channels, but most of them I can ignore. Decisions, decisions.

Get a roof top antenna?

There are so many choices now! I wish we could have a roof top antenna, we tried but are surrounded by too many tall pine trees! I have the Spectrum Pick 10 program and Hulu. Spectrum is the only wifi company I can have where I am...so no other choices for us! We looked into Starlink but that's too expensive and to long of a waiting list for my area now.

We opted to YouTube TV in order to get our local channels. Does Sling offer your local channels?

I'm with you on roof-top-antennas -- That works well @ our house

Originally, we had a 20' tower on the roof with a 20" antenna on top of that. We also had a rotor and an amplifier. Pointing south, we'd sort of get NYC. Pointed east, we'd get a station in CT.

They all offer local channels, but one Sling offers PBS, and the other doesn't - for the same price. I'll have to look at the list to see what else is different.

EDIT: The only difference seems to be that one provides three PBS channels, and the other one doesn't.

I think Starlink is the future. Hopefully, it will come down in price.

I really dislike wireless stuff for things that don't move around.

FWIW, I'm a little over 6 months into YouTube TV and am very pleased. My cost is $65/month and I get 85 channels, most of which I never watch which is the same as when I had other services. I get 2 PBS channels. My son was here for a visit over Christmas and he has HULU. He said he liked YouTube better. Easy interface and easier to skim through the commercials. I have the YouTube app installed on a Firestick so all my streaming services are easy to get to. One TV is a Roku and that's virtually the same.

I tried Hulu and one, other but went back to YouTube because of its flexibility. You can start a show you have DVR'd at the beginning while the show is in progress. Many other streams make you wait until the show is over before starting from the beginning. Very happy with YouTube-tv

YouTube is now $71.98 for 150 channels. It used to be $30.

That must be with the sales tax? There is a special right now, for those who haven't subscribed in the past:
https://tv.youtube.com/welcome/

And two free weeks upfront to decide.

I liked their interface a lot when I was watching more shows. Found it easy to set up recordings, especially for recurring programs. Now it's just MLB.tv for me

No, that's with the History channel, so I dropped it. I can watch that on the computer. It will cost me $64.99 for 114 channels. I'll probably continue recording on the Tivo. It looks like I had originally selected YouTube TV +Frndly. That's $71.99 for 150 channels.
