What makes you revisit and play with you old photos?
I believe most photographers revisit to reminisce instead of intentions to edit.

As for me, I usually have a few image always bugging the back of my head and though they seldom get to be retouched, some do get the whole shebang.

Today I got to scratch one of the itches and came up with the below.
But it started another itch LOL, I might paint this one day.
I think it might look good in acrylic.

I do it because my editing skills have improved.

I do it because I'm part of a weekly-theme group on Facebook (a private group called Create 52 Photography Project that encourages creative editing) and I no longer drive around the countryside for 4 - 6 hours at a time, 3 times a week, in search of photo ops

I do that from time to time because it reminds me of what I liked about them. Doing that gives me a renewed feeling of purpose. At the moment my only purpose generators are 1) ending up with a pleasing image, and 2) sharing on UHH and Facebook.

I should probably get more of my stuff printed because that produces a tangible end product which I can then hang on my wall. I re-edited the image below because I could see how a few tweaks would improve it. I've also sent it away to be printed on metal. I'm waiting for the delivery any day now.

Your re-visit would probably look great as a painting. More often than not a good photo takes a fair bit of effort, but a good painting is undeniable proof of the time and effort invested in the end result.

For me, two items: 1, I did a mass import of 'legacy' images back around 2017, the majority still sit untouched in my LR catalog since that import; and 2, my editing skills have improved, so these 2006-2016 RAW (and some JPEG) get a fresh treatment, as if shot just this morning in 2023. A better treatment and result, from better editing technique, better understanding and better tools.

I have taken up woodburning, and have been revisiting my archived images for subjects to reproduce that are my original images as opposed to using something found on the internet.

Printing my stuff is one thing I have been neglecting. Perhaps I shoold put some effort into it.
Precisely what I was thinking about making it a painting. It has the look.

That photo of yours looks like a nice place to visit and camp awhile.

Very nice!
There is always room to learning something new.
On cataloging, thats another thing I need to work on.
My stuffs are all over the place. Some on usbs, some on disks etc.
I really need to put them in order.
