Thought I would do 'stairs' a little closer to home. After taking little trips to eastern Washington for years and passing this "Wallace Falls" sign as we went through one of the small towns, I mentioned that it would be nice to see what they were all about. So... Now, I have always considered myself as an outdoorsy person, hunting, camping, fishing, gardening, walking, etc., but I have done very little hiking or walking on actual groomed trails. Well... I found out a bit of what it was like. Getting to the first falls was great, a beautiful fir forest, well kept trail (labeled "Moderate", cascading brooks, and a impressive and gorgeous waterfall. Well, there was still another waterfall a 1/2 mile up. I had to go. It was labeled "More Difficult". Not knowing what that really meant, I figured no problem. Well, never mind the 'steps'. Sometimes, it was difficult to figure out where the trail was.

Well, one more set. Last but not least... here at home.

Opps. I sent previous post before I had added these.
We had to redo the backyard in 2021 because we had to put in sewer. We decided to redo the railroad tie steps and wall at the same time as they were deteriorating after 25 years or so.

This has been a great challenge. As others, I thought I'd have very little to offer but not so. Thanks again, Pat.

Thanks, Bill, for a super challenge last week and to Larry for another Free Sunday.

This week's challenge is all about stairs/staircases/ladders etc. I'm not sure we've ever had this topic before, so "step" right up (or down) and find us some stairs to climb - or descend.

I'll start with some stone steps - the first two are in an old fort and the 3rd is a long stairway to an historic area church.

Here's my stairs image.

It was fun to visit this area. I had never been there. As I walked around, I found it very nostalgic seeing the older homes. So reminiscent of where I grew up.
Too bad things have to change. Downtown Kennebunk (never knew of it before) and Kennebunkport were very charming back then. Hopefully, still. Just in a different way.

Yes, Leek, they do still have a lot of the old New England charm which is one reason they attract so many visitors every summer - bumper to bumper.

LOL, good sport you are. I miss being able to hike. I'm a flatlander now by necessity unless I care to chance breaking something and being the object of an all out rescue!

These are sooo beautiful, Leek! I much admire your heart for and ability to garden. I think they deserve a fancy sign and elegant name "Le Jardin de Leque (Leek)".

Thank you so much for taking the challenge to "take the stairs".

No-one had an image of the Spanish Steps as I recall. So...following in Kaskazi's footsteps here is a short video about the steps.

I really enjoyed the wide variety of posts. So many talented (and humorous) photogs. Thank you for making the challenges, fun, interesting and educational. My words of advice would be watch your feet and don't trip. At least get a picture before you fall! LOL My finale would be....

1,2 stairs inside the immigrant hospital on Ellis Island in New York Harbor
3 "See Through" nautical steps on the replica Nina
4 Stairs in a Visitor's Center in Conway, NH
5 Steps to a local trail
6 Stairs at Bass Harbor Light

I haven't done any exploring for some time. I hope I can do more, at least to some point. I'm sure going to go for it when the weather gets better.

Great finale, Pat. There should be applause and a bouquet of red roses.
