Currently we have a couple feet of snow. Soon it will melt away and feed the well for the coming months and this scene will return. Spring is gorgeous here. We are about 45 minutes north of Crater Lake NP. They have over 10 ft now and the park is closed. Looking forward to a return to this.

There’s enough snowpack this season that if we get a quick enough thaw the meadow/riparian zone will flood to about chest deep and suddenly the new temporary lake will fill with waterfowl. Once that recedes the meadow will bloom in a riot of colors from many species of wildflowers. That phenomenon hasn’t happened for ten years. This year has the making of such an event if it warms quickly enough in April. Fingers crossed. The upper reaches of Mt. Theillson has at least 15 ft of snowpack and feeds this drainage, so we’ll see soon enough. One can hope.

Only time I've been on 97 was in sunshine! I worked in Oregon for better part of 10 years doing commercial risk control evaluation, Crater Lake is quite something, first time I'd been there. You will be done with the snow in May, probably. God Bless.

Yup you’re right about May. What I hope for is a sudden warming in April which will result in huge amounts of water in May and summer blooms. Lived here all my 70 plus years and it’s a rare phenomenon. Being optimistic I guess. We shall see what comes.

And yes, Crater Lake is something else. Maybe biggest rainwater puddle there is. Not sure though. Studied it a fair bit in geology. Crazy interesting spot.
