From a Chihully exhibit at Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix shot some years back. I've already shared some of these but on a chilly (not chihully) AZ day (only in the low 60s) I decided to rework some of these using newer software and a bit more experience. I'm amazed at how he is able to adapt his sculptures to their surroundings. So many cacti grow uncontrolled as his sculptures seem to do. I especially love the way the large yellow and red sculpture competes with the cactus next to it. Hope you enjoy.
All shot with a Nikon D800 and a Tamron 28-75 f2.8 macro zoom.
Excellent! My wife and I were there about 12 years ago and there were a few of his pieces in place at the entrance but nothing like what you have shown.

We were there 10-12 years ago and have mixed emotions about the installations. Yes, the glass is pretty, especially at dusk/night when lighted. But some of the placements seem random and don’t enhance the sites. For example, the first photo shows a complementary design but the third and fifth items seem just placed to fill empty spots.
I saw the same exhibit last spring.
I’ve always loved Chihullys work. Somewhere I still have one of the “cylinders” done by his RISSD grad students, emulating his early acclaimed work. He was the head of the glass department when I was studying architecture there in the late 70’s.
Amazing! Wife enjoyed too.
I have seen multiple presentations and can never have too many Chihully shots. Thanks
Enjoyed them all, but especially the presentation of #3. Bev
Nicely captured! I imagine some of these take some considerable time to make.
