I've got to call these people and drop TV and phone. The bill is up to $203. They charge $150 for all three, but they add $10 Internet, $6 TV, $24.90 Other Charges, and $12.10 Taxes, Fees, and Charges.

I'll have to connect the Ooma box for the phone and sign up with YouTube TV. Then I'll make the dreaded call to Spectrum.

Crooks - or supply/demand and capitalism? And local taxes?

When I went from Spectrum cable tv to YouTubeTV I was delighted to find the only additional cost was sales tax.

However, just my internet with Spectrum was $80 (no taxes or fees are applied) until recently, when I moved and got a promo for a "slower" speed for $35/month for two years. The speed - just tested at 107 mbps - is fully capable of streaming MLB

It's a shame that discontinuing two-thirds of the service results in such a small decrease.

Are you staying with them for internet? How much is that unbundled?

Yes, just Internet. I dread calling because I know it will be like calling XM Radio - trying to persuade me to stay. Maybe I'll call tomorrow. I was too involved with other things to do anything with the phone or YouTube today. "Tomorrow" is a great word. I'll have to figure how much I'll be paying YouTube and Ooma and make sure I don't wind up paying more with Spectrum cable.

Spectrum doesn't persuade me to stay. They actually told me to leave for a year then come back for new customer promotion. So I told them I sold the house to my wife and she is the new customer so we have the low price. She may have to sell the house to me next year.

Sounds like a plan.

Hey Jerryc41, I have Roko with all that and a bunch of other channels for $124 per month. And my internet is 500 mps. You are doing something wrong.

I have Roku, Amazon Fire, and Chrome TV. I alternate, depending on which one is working best. I get TV, Internet, and phone from Spectrum. My bill has gone from around $140 to $203. What I'm doing wrong is not canceling TV and phone. I'm connecting the Ooma machine and starting the free trial with YouTube TV today.

They started to raise mine about a year ago and I told them I couldn't afford it and I needed things turned off, and the guy said well, you are a good customer and I can give the latest deals and they have discounts. And that worked out pretty good, without the discounts I would be up around $175. Get a hold of customer service and see if you can get some current discounts.

About a year ago while at Walmart the spectrum people gave us a great deal.i told them I had U -Verse and all the channels, hi speed internet, and 3 boxes for $167.they were supposed to give me the same thing U - Verse was giving me plus higher internet speed for $155.i spent half a day refunding cable in my attic.i also trimmed my oak tree cause they couldn't get to the terminal from next door cause of the dog.after all their work was done we started watching a movie.i told the wife to place in on pause so I could get a pizza.we couldn't pause it.after calling spectrum we were told we didn't get the dvrs which allows us to pause and record movies. For an extra $45 per month I could get them.i told them that I had the capability with U'Verse to be able to pause and record moves and that's not what they sold me .I even spoke to their supervisor and told him they had 2 guys working for 4 hours and i worked half a day and trimmed a fourth of my oak tree and would like to get the $155 price I was quoted.still no cigar so I told them to disconnect it.they asked if I was sure.i told them yes and in 2 seconds the tvs went off.thank God I hadn't had my U-Verse disconnected.

Yes, they will lower it a bit, but then it will increase again. I did that a few years ago. It make me feel like a beggar. Either they charge a certain price, or they don't. "Hey, mister, how much is this?" "How much you got, kid?"

I have no idea what it is like where you are but I have Spectrum internet only and I pay 35 a month that includes the 5 dollar for their modem. Now I have my own and will probably use it and that will drop my cost down 5 dollars. They are reliable and I have no problems. It must be a NY thing, I used to stay in Brooklyn about 20 years ago, nice for a shot time but nothing better than Texas.

For m$35 a month, they wouldn't even answer the phone.

When I got phone service from them, they messed me up with the modem. It took a while before I was able to straighten it out. As for reliability, they do raise the price on a regular basis.

Oh s**t Jerry, it seems like a continuing story. I have no answer. I am on my second year with them and I am happy. AT&T has a crappy reputation around here for both phone and internet service and their customer support is terrible at best as reported by customers. I have had no problems with Spectrum. When I did call I actually got a live human who spoke English because I needed to renew service for this year. The walk in store close to me is excellent. I need to shut up now because I see a pattern in several ways but I hope you can get it all worked out.
Onward through the fog bro.
Bruce.
