I carry a "Pilot G-2 Penstylus" it's very inexpensive, writes very smooth and has a soft-end for phone texting and touchscreens. Moving the pocket clip extends or retracts the point.

While not a true ball point pin I'm partial to a Precise V5 Rolling Ball pen with the Extra Fine point. To me, it's more of a 'technical fountain pen' along the style of the old Rapido-Graph pens.

I purchased Bic Round Stic pens from Costco years ago. Still have two boxes and the pens are still working great. Not fancy like Cross or Mount Blanc but do the job. I also have my gold Cross pen and pencil set that my parents gave me for my 1961 highschool graduation.

I used the gel pens when I was still driving for a living. I signed on average 30 to 60 bills for lading a day and many times in triplicate. The pens lasted 3 weeks flat before they were out of ink. Just didn't last long enough. LOL

Used to use a pen a week in my job. Best ones are gel pens, believe it or not less drag and effort to use than a regular ball point. They work in the cold fine down to about 10 degrees. TQL my favorite, Pentel. Gel the best.

Used to own a pen shop. Parker and Cross are first pick. Shaeffer and Lamy close seconds. Mont Blanc is a cheap pen with great marketing sold at a quality pen price. You can't go wrong with the first four with their legitimate refills. Knock-offs are readily available and are junk. Be sure to buy the legitimate refill and you're good to go. Or just buy a Pilot G-02.

Tried them all but Acroball by Pilot...the best!

My wife swears by the Schneider Slider Memo XB (Extra Broad) Ballpoint Pen. They're not cheap (nearly $3 each from Amazon), but she claims it's the best that she's ever used and she's used a lot pens as she writes everything down and keeps prodigious notes when we travel (I wouldn't be surprised if she writes a book some day).

Me, I just use whatever pen someone has given me or which I picked-up at a hotel or wherever. I do have a a very nice (and expensive) MontBlanc Meisterstuck Platinum Line Classique Ballpoint Pen, which was a gift from our youngest son (he did some IT work for the Platinum Guild and they bartered for his services). I hardly ever use it, mostly I stick it in my shirt pocket when I'm dressed-up, like going to church or out to a fancy dinner or party. Yes, I'll admit that I treat it like jewelry, I 'wear' it because it looks expensive and elegant

I'd go with Office Depot. I have a Montblanc Meisterstuck ballpoint and fountain pen that haven't been used for over 30 years. Nice to own but not very practical

Some years ago our bank started giving pens away, they even based an ad campaign on that, using a tag line of "If your bank won't trust you with their pen, why should you trust them with your money?" As I recall, the ads showed a pen attached to a boat anchor chain.

I find their pens to be far better than most of the ones you can buy, though my wife likes the Sharpie Roller pens.

I'm told the bank employees even have a contest for the pens found the furthest away each year.

I have a Tiffany pen, but their refills are picey, though Cross sort of fit. I have a Waterman pen that I really like.

For an actual ballpoint pen, I'd go with the Parker.
