Although this is meant to be humorous, I suspect many cell phone users use them for things other than making phone calls. Taking pictures, texting, and emailing comes to mind. Mine is used 90% for email.

I have a smartphone issued to me by my company. But the cell phone that I buy for myself can basically make and receive calls. It's very lousy to receive text. It can't take picture as it has no camera. But it has long battery life, water proof and very tough.

Funny! It has long battery life, but it can't do anything. No wonder the battery lasts so long.

It can't do anything except making and receiving calls. That's all I want it for. I want a phone that works when I need it the most. I need the long battery life. It's not funny when your phone dies when you need it.

That's why my phone never gets below 50% charge.
But I DO like the APPS I have on it!

The least used function on my smartphone is the phone.

Probably mine also.
My most used APP is Out of Milk.
Followed by Calendar and Messaging.

I rarely use my phone for calls. I don't like to talk on the phone so I only make calls when there is no other communication method that will work. I don't answer phone calls unless it's from someone I know and most people I know use text or email instead of calling. I do use my phone for nearly everything else from grocery (and other) lists to keeping track of appointments, alarms and reminders, driving maps, weather, news, smart home controls and many other apps like for health and finance reasons. Occasionally I even use it for a photo!

Sure can! I had a cell phone which got "retired" for one with a larger screen and lower fees. Went to the store I got the first one from and had them deactivate the phone service. I now have a "phone-less phone" which I can still use for everything else, including WiFi.

Um... Why don't you use the new phone for everything else?

I thought of keeping my old S-III when I got a new phone, but the new phone does everything the S-III did.
I didn't want to carry two of the <almost> same things.

And about two dozen other lists.
