We think we are so smart. There were very smart people then! Amazingly pre-Galileo.
Nice. I've seen that on TV several times.

As one commentator said about early accomplishments, "They had the same brains we have." What's sad is that we haven't gotten any smarter in the past five hundred years. With all of our knowledge and technology, the current pandemic is lasting longer than the 1918 Flu.

It always amazed me how they were able to design and build buildings and other works of art and everything was done by hand without computers and modern metalworking machines like lathes, milling, and other computerized machines.
How cool!! As a kid I always enjoyed Gog and Magog at Greenfield Village.

Fantastic! This is the first time I have seen this! I immediately told my wife about it and when I was in Munich in the summer of 1974. There was a tour about to begin into the glockenspiel, the town clock. I noticed an alcove and a small open door. My two friends and I quickly disappeared and went up a winding stone staircase. At the top, we were inside the clock! Figurines that were as tall of us, intricately painted to match the season! There was a knight in full armor wielding a sledgehammer to ring the bell which was an easy six foot tall by maybe six across. We realized it was about to strike because the clock mechanism started whirring and clicking. One of the guys said we should get out, it was about to strike 12 and we would probably become deaf! We scampered down and onto the town square to watch!
