Went to the museum for my second time this past week. I don't consider myself to be an airplane enthusiast but the museum display is certainly worth going to.

"The Pima Air & Space Museum is one of the largest, non-government funded air and space museums in the world. With 400 aircraft on 80 acres with 6 display hangars and 125,000 artifacts, there is something for everyone. The museum's collections spans commercial, civilian and military aircraft.

The Grumman F11F/F-11 Tiger is a supersonic, single-seat carrier-based United States Navy fighter aircraft in operation during the 1950s and 1960s. Originally designated the F11F Tiger in April 1955 under the pre-1962 Navy designation system, it was redesignated as F-11 Tiger under the 1962 United States Tri-Service aircraft designation system.

The F11F/F-11 was used by the Blue Angels flight team from 1957–1969. Grumman Aircraft Corporation made 200 Tigers, with the last aircraft being delivered to the U.S. Navy on 23 January 1959."

Beautiful machine. Are those the ones I used to see flying out of Willie? (Williams AFB)

I noticed the plane was one flown by Lt. Smokey Tolbert. Smokey was from my home town of Tishomingo Oklahoma. Smokey was shot down on his third tour in Vietnam. By then, he had the rank of Lt. Cmdr. He earned two Silver Stars and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Another of the planes he flew with the Blue Angles is on display in Tishomingo. He flew over 300 missions by the time he was shot down. I didn't know Smokey (Clarence) well, but I have met him. If you are interested, you can learn more if you google Smokey Tolbert.

Nice shots! I would love to have that red Piper Cub (I can see the tail) in the second photo, or the Taylorcraft BC12D hanging from the ceiling in the last photo.
