Have you? Every time I do it seems to go OK, but when I try to open it, It downloads again. It seems to go through the download ok..............
Same here. After 4 times I gave up on it
I tried it years ago and came to the conclusion that it was just as difficult to learn as Photoshop so I flushed it and bought a copy of Photoshop CS6.
Yeah, it's been a while...
I downloaded it about 6 months ago. It went fine. It ain't easy to learn but it's a good program.

What operating system do you use? I can't speak to Apple, but I've never had an issue with Windows or Linux.
I found turning off my Anti-virus solved that problem when it happens to me. Some Anti-virus programs are very aggressive as to what they perceive to be a threat.
I had a problem with Apple in that GIMP was not available from the App Store. Therefore the Mac OS didn't like the application. I found a work around and that was ok. Then I discovered the only way to do a selection was with the pen tool. I'm not real good with the pen tool. So I bought PS Elements. At the time GIMP's user interface was awful, but I suppose if one got used to it, and could use the pen tool, then it'd be ok.

For me, in addition to a good number of AI softwares, GIMP is an essential tool. And there are times that it gets wonky and I have to re-install it. That doesn't always go smoothly but I have seen times when it just takes a good deal of time after you think it's going as far as it can to install. I leave it for a while to see if the installation completes properly and it usually has after an annoyingly longer time than would be reasonable.

I have had no problem with installing Gimp on a Windows 10 machine and now on a Win 11 computer. But if a program continues to have a problem downloading, I clean out any old versions of the program I had installed and any files not completed, scrub my system for viruses and other bad stuff, restart the computer and then try the download and install again. Seems to work almost always. --Richard
