Thanks Frank, he has the manual and is using it.

I was thinking about third party books like David Busch, Darrell Young or someone else.

Why not exhaust free videos on utube before spending more money?

Cuz maybe a gift ?

Contentwise I find Busch and Young are both near perfect, but I always prefer to find a Busch book cuz it uses a regular book style type face.

Cannot fathom why Youngs publisher uses a font that was never intended for body copy. Tiresome on the eyes.

The owner's manual is free. I would start with that. YouTube is also free, and there are many videos about the R7 available. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=canon+r7

In my opinion, this video course by John Greengo is the best you can do. https://shop.johngreengo.com/products/canon-r7-complete-camera-guide

When I ordered the original R5 I watched what seemed to be zillion videos. Unless one has deep memory and not always near internet access, a book like Busch's is great. Considering what spend on gear a book like Busch's is worth every cent.

Thanks everyone. I agree with Paul. Cant always watch youtube. When you first get a new camera you want to learn about it. Most of us read much faster than the videos explain things. Some of the videos take forever to explain something that is easily explained in a few words. Later on when you have specific needs a video may be the way to go.

Again thanks

Chuck

That's the 500+ page User's Manual... Make sure to download and save the electronic PDF. Also free.

Another vote for Nina Bailey’s books. PDF or the pocket guides….both are very good.
