If it doesn’t rot first, the seeds in a tomato left on your kitchen counter long enough will sprout and some will push through the skin.

Thank you for the information. My delightful wife of 58 years has always set tomatoes out on the kitchen counter and still, this is a first for us.

I''m in the latter part of my 80's, blessed to travel many places most others have not visited. A tomato growing it's own tomato plant and a black flower were two things I'd never experienced before. Also, I would appreciate knowing the name of the flower; and it ain't Henry. The last tomato picture was taken one week after the first two; 3 mornings later it had burst and my wife threw it in the trash and it sorta exploded.

I'm not a botanist but my mothere used to plant flowers arounf our home when I was growing up. She frequently had flowers that looked like the black one in your photo. I think she called them morning glories. I do not recall ever seeing one that was black, but she grew them in a wide variety of colors, some had mixed colors in each bloom.

Thank you for your comment. Almost all previous comments think the flower is a petunia. What ever it is, to me it is unique and a first for me and several people at church.
