And the one that can come back and bite you in the Ass
A number of years ago (1962 to be exact), I applied for a job as a repairman to do "house calls" on dial phones. I was given a general "aptitude" test; and, then, given a telephone; a screw driver; and, a pair of ordinary pliers; and, asked to "repair" the phone. The HR guy said I had 2 hours to complete the aptitude test and repair the phone. After about 30 minutes, I handed him the completed test paper; and, the repaired telephone. He looked everything over; and, told me he would NOT hire me. I asked "Why not? I got 100% on the aptitude and general knowledge test; and, I repaired the telephone to a working condition in less than a quarter of the allotted time? And, all the other applicants are still working on their tests!"
He replied: "No one has ever scored higher than 75% on the aptitude test; and, the phone we gave you was impossible to repair because several parts were damaged; and, several other parts had been completely removed. It was only given to you to see how you would "approach" a problem. And, you were supposed to report back that the phone could NOT be repaired! By the way "HOW did you get it working?" I told him: "I jury-rigged several parts; and, re-purposed other parts."
He laughed and told me: "Interesting answer! However, you are too smart for the job; and, would probably become President of Pacific Telephone within a year; and, fire most of the existing "top brass" for THEIR incompetence!"
And, now y'all have an understanding why your local phone companies (and, many of our major corporations) run their businesses the way they do TODAY (in the 21st Century!)
Some things you keep inside your head.
It's a mental error...not hiring for that reason.
I doubt that anyone would hire that guy.
