It was another beautiful sunny Sunday morning in Apache Junction so I stopped out at the Goldfield Ghost Town to shoot the High-Noon gunfights in the main street. The parking lot at the Mammoth Saloon was blocked off so I knew that this would be the day for the annual "Blessing of the Horses".
I decided to stick around and shoot this event instead and meet some of the riders in attendance. The parking lot quickly filled up with horses and riders and the band was playing all the Western favorites. With Superstition Mountain for a backdrop, this is always a favorite place of mine to hang out and catch up with some of the locals.
The Blessing of the Horses is a popular annual event here, so it took little time for the outdoor deck to get crowded, with several dancing to the loud music. I got my share of photos and met several new faces, even sold a couple of Photo Books.

Would love to attend that event sometime. I cracked up at the rider with head bowed in prayer and a cigarette dangling from his lips.

I liked that shot because of the Cowboy in it, the cigarette in his mouth and holding a can of beer in his hand.
