You may well know of Shel Silverstein. Writer, comic artist, songwriter and more. Possibly best known as (Co?) writer of Johnny Cash's hit "Boy named Sue". Well, I don't have kids, so I knew of Shel Silverstein first because of this:

My sons Christopher and Brian enjoyed both “Falling Up” and “A Light In The Attic.”

I have never ever smoke a joint, but I found The Great Smoke off to be hilarious.

I bought my kids all his books. He is one reason why they are all good readers. Don't forget 'The End Of The Sidewalk.'

I always found it somewhat odd that the same person who wrote Where the Sidewalk Ends also did The Great Smokeout. It's like he had two personalities. One Mr. Rogers and the other a Janis Joplin type.

Same here. We had all his books and I even enjoyed them. My favorite poem was the one about the dentist pulling a tooth from an alligator.

My kids also enjoyed his poems.
I’ve always loved this autobiographical tune of his: www.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DUPrixYOTNHw" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://duckduckgo.com/?q=sylvias+mother+video&t=ipad&ia=videos&iax=videos&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DUPrixYOTNHw
And who can forget the tune “on the cover of the rolling stone”.

My boys liked the one about 'Sister for Sale.' My girl like the one about the alligator, the one you like. They have kids of their own and each of them has their own set of Shel Silverstien books

Three personalities - he also wrote for Playboy.
