It’s great to hear that you enjoy B&H. Since I live in Brooklyn, and work in NYC I love going to B&H. You could make it a trip from Connecticut and going sightseeing and photographing.

Don't know why, but I've never been to Glazers. Maybe it is because I hate and avoid the Seattle core. I grew up there and loved the old version.

I drove that road last summer with my "old" camera. By the time we got there and back with some touring, it was about 6000 miles. Now that I have a new camera from B&H, maybe I should go again!

Definitely, you notice difference things every time.

Lucky you! On a side note, I just visited your photo web site. I love the shots of the antique cars minus the wheels, very cool!

Thank you. There is a story.

I went to a parking lot car show in Lake Havasu. There were people and photographic confusion everywhere that ruined any shooting. I thought about it for awhile and decided that the "art" was the body work. Could I eliminate everything except the the work of the artist? Wheels and tires were eliminated because they were more "manufactured" than hand crafted.

You are fortunate. Where I live I have to drive two hours through the center of of Seattle's worst traffic to get to Kenmore Camera. Then I have to drive back. There are no other local choices. A long time ago, in the film days, Tacoma had a good store. Not now.

Same here. No camera stores anywhere near me.

For me, B&H is 45 min away by subway... if you're local to NYC it's an amazing place to visit.

And an excellent camera as well.

B&H is a great place to buy from but I always want to buy from local businesses first. They probably eventually go away so I want to visit them as much as I still can.

If I were to buy a Canon R6ii I would simply drive to Competitive Camera which is 32 min. away and pick one up. Price is the same as B&H (I do have to pay the tax) and I can get it the same day. Support my local business too.

If you can order today & get it tomorrow morning, why pay an extra $158+ and not to mention gas money? I can wait that long. I like to support local business, too, but not at that price difference.

I am only one man and won't change anything but I don't want to be responsible for the demise of bricks and mortar stores. I missed those stores so much.

Saving the tax isn't always the best option. I would like to get the Nikon 100-400 z lens which sells for around 2700.00. If I do that, I will have to front the 2700.00, which means that is money that could be used in a more productive way elsewhere. I would save around 162.00 but if it took a year to pay off, it would cost around 500.00 in interest. On the other hand, I could use PayPal which would give me a year to pay it off without interest. I know some of our wealthier members would say just pay 2700 at the end of the month and save the tax and interest, but not all of us are wealthy. Others may say just save up until you can pay cash and save the interest, but being retired, I have no real way of saving up since spendable money is less than when I worked full-time. I just do not like taking money from retirement payments for luxury items. Spendable income usually is allocated to travel between our homes in PA and Charleston, SC. I work part-time at Sam's club and use this money for my photography interests and while I could save all my income from that and purchase the lens for cash in a couple of months, at times I find other uses for that money as well. We just purchased a new refrigerator which my wife wasn't sure we need but I feel we do. Since my wife wasn't sold on getting the new refrigerator I agreed to pay for it myself. Things like that are what I mean by using money in a more productive way. I have it set up to pay it off in 18 months interest-free. I will most likely pay it off in a year to keep well ahead of having payments close to the end where if not paid on time would add all the interest for a year-and-a-half onto the bill. Anyway, my point is that while tax-free is a wonderful program and one which I use for small to medium purchases, it is not universal in its appeal or application.

Robi's camera in south Tacoma is still open in Lakewood. I have only shopped there once but it seemed to have a full line of photographic equipment. Check it out if you are looking for gear.

You are very lucky. The only photographers store here closed last year. My nearest store is over 200 miles away (one way). Been a B&H customer for many many years. Always great service, not matter what the issue.

Not all here are wealthy.
Some of us actually have the self discipline to save up for what we want.
I know that is a weird concept today but works quite well.
If there is a MII version when we get the cash, so much the better as generally now it seems to not be a big increase in price with the update.
For me as well the shopping and study is half the fun.
Just a bit old fashioned I guess.
