I saw the post asking about inexpensive photo scanners and I have a question. I have scanned B&W negatives on my HP scanner and then put them in photoscape and reversed them to make them positives. However when I tried it with color negatives it didn't work the same way. What program does one have to use to get color negatives to come up positive?
Thank you for your reply. I am getting back into film but I want to be able to edit digitally. Kind of a mixture of both worlds. I tried dark room stuff years ago and had a terrible reaction to the chemicals.

I have been after a scanner to scan B&W negs, the old box brownie type, about 2.5 X 4.25 inch. My research suggested the only one, within reason $s, was the Epson V500. I bought it & early results were great but it has been a pain since. The slide scans became gradually more problematic to the degree that I'm sure I have a lemon & I'm trying to convince Epson Aust of that fact.
It scans all things, Doc's, slides, 35mm film [negs] & the old B&W's very well.
My recent surfing the web for info on them, I found that the price in US is much cheaper than Aust. A deal I saw was around $130 US, which is less than the A$ just now & I got a good deal?? at A$314??? I think I got 'Took' for a ride.
Canon are good scanners too but I bought this to scan the old B&Ws.
Thank you for the info. I have gotten into film again and want one to scan 120 negatives. I can get the film developed at a reasonable price but I want something to scan the negatives so I can work on them in a photo program.
I can't print them in a darkroom as the chemicals and I don't get along too well. Hopefully I can get an Epson that will behave itself.

The att'ts I said. Also a couple of scans of my B&W negs
Old film sizes.
b&w neg scanned withe canon normal
colour inverted in Picasa,same pic.
Similar pic scanned with Epson V500
Really quite a difference. It looks like the Epson will do what I want. Thank you for posting the pictures. It is a big help in making my decision.
